Description
My second Saturn image for 2009! And I have to say, the seeing tonight was fantastic! There was a bit of cloud that’d pop up every now and then, but apart from that (and the mosquitos!) it was a great evening.
Saturn itself is actually a 2X resample of one of the images I captured using my 5X Powermate. It’s a bit nosier than the original image, but I just couldn’t resist the image scale on this one!
The moons are (in order from left to right) Titan, Tethys and Rhea. Enceladus was transiting the planet while this image was taken, though I don’t think you can pick it out of the noise.
Saturn and the moons were taken in separate exposures and added together after processing.
Taken with my 10” Newtonian telescope on an EQ6 mount. A 5X Powermate was used with my DMK21AU04.AS camera. Registax was used for processing (the beta of Registax5, in fact).
