The Moon, Saturn and its Moons

Description

In a bout of creativity sparked by Foxmaq [link] , I spent last night under the stars working on a very strange creation. It is a photomanip of two dominant bodies of our solar system in close quarters - as it appeared early this morning (19-12-2005).

Basicly, Saturn was fairly close to the Moon last night, so seperate shots of each body were taken, and placed together with the help of a reference shot in photoshop.

All objects were taken last night, except for Saturn, which was quite ugly last night. Instead, I used the shot found here in the bottom right [link] .

The Moon was taken with a Sony DigiCam through my 10" Dobsonian based telescope, and is the result of two 5 megapixel shots stitched together in AutoStitch, leveled and curved in photoshop, then scaled into the full shot.

Saturns moons were taken using my usual video camera in night mode, held to my telescope by my home made camera bracket. The AVIs produced were processed in Registax, and leveled and curved in photoshop before being scaled into the full shot.

Note: I am fairly sure I made Saturn too big in relation to the moon. However, if I was to make it any smaller, it wouldn't be worth looking at =P

It certainly is a good photomanip, I like what you've done. But, it is a photomanip, and as such it should be put elsewhere, I personally think that things like this (usually much more blatent violations, and by people who have never attempted astrop., unlike you) give people a false idea of what this section is. However, given that you are one of the best suppliers of good photos in the section, i'm gonna let it slip. Just thought I'd let you know what I think about photomanips in the section. On a lighter note, you've done a great job. And I'm glad to see you got a pic with the moons in it.
